Nick Jensen此次的到訪,表達了Dialogic對中國市場的高度重視及堅定信心。目前Dialogic在亞洲地區有員工45人,而中國和印度市場是增長最快的。在全球IP通信聯盟提出的如下問題中,Nick大量談及了Dialogic在基于IP的視頻,3G方面的設想。
1. Dialogic, traditionally known more for voice and fax features, has conducted a number of acquisitions: Cantata, Open Media Labs, mostly toward multimedia enhancement. Apparently, very good decision and choices that make a lot of sense. Since when did Dialogic start thinking about this migration toward multimedia? What goal and sales target is in your mind? How is the integration going (product, HR, brand awareness, etc.) so far?
Answer: Dialogic made the decision to multimedia long time ago, as HMP for example is the major technology to lead Dialogic to multimedia. So far the integration goes very well, we have integrated the Cantata product line into Dialogic and all logistic like purchase/finance also combine together. For the brands, Dialogic will use Dialogic brand for all Dialogic product line, we run several brand awareness campaign worldwide, such as “build on Dialogic” campaign.
2. Wireless is also an area with great potential in the IP world. And you mentioned a lot on 3G especially. Tell us about Dialogic’s thought and action in this segment.
Answer: As Dialogic will focus on “IP, Wireless and Video”, we put lots of resource and investment into these areas. Since last year PT EXPO in China, we have launched several products like MMP for ATCA, especially design for wireless Video application. And early this year, we acquired Open media Lab to form Dialogic Media lab which focus on 3G video and multimedia applications.
3. Asterisk, undoubtedly, has gaining more and more popularity. However, clients interested in relatively lower-cost Asterisk solutions are usually price sensitive and tend to care mostly on voice only. How do you see the potential of their adopting multimedia features?
Answer: Yes, by Mar.21, Dialogic announced that Dialogic Diva product will support Asterisk. With Dialogic API support, the Diva product can support 120 channel rich conference with single Asterisk CPU server. 4. What do you see, apart from voice, as the most popular/widely used applications: fax, conference, text, and video?
Answer: Video, video, video! Convergence means many things, but one thing for certain is that video is the latest form of media converging with voice and data over IP. It will help the carriers to sell a lot of bandwidth and is for sure the killer application. Dialogic enables media processing, that’s what we do, and video is the latest form. We’re seeing very exciting video application innovations coming from our Indian partners. And I think we’ll continue to see this application innovation for a long time. The application possibilities are endless, and for sure there will be no shortage of content as folks all over the world are walking around with some sort of handheld device that can capture live content in video format and seamlessly upload to online communities, new services, and a myriad of other outlets.
5. UC is a hot segment. With the expertise in voice and video, Dialogic is well-positioned for UC. Tell us about Dialogic’s thoughts and moves on UC.
Answer: Reference all the MSFT events in APAC alone that we’ve participated in over the last 12 months. Also note the http://www.dialogic.com/microsoftuc/default.htm which until a week or so ago was running off the hero box at Dialogic. Perhaps the media could fault us for our lopsided UC focus on MS. We’ve placed several UC focused advertisements in US based trade magazines VON MAG and Internet Telephony. UC market to Dialogic pretty much means gateways and HMP…..we’re promoting both heavily.
