On 17 January, Iimedia Research released a report titled “China Mobile Internet Market and Netcitizen Behavior Survey”. The report analyses China Mobile’s Internet industry development.
Comparing to Korea, China Mobile Internet applies WAP protocol. Most of China cellphone users apply WAP access to Internet. Accroding to the report, till the end of December 2009, China Mobile network user reached 233 million, WAP sites exceed 0.5 million and WAP websites nearly 1.56 billion. Recently, WAP market has entered into fast growing period in China.
The most sought after applications of China Mobile Internet are photos, ring tones, reading and games. In 2003, the killer applications of Korean Mobile Internet were photos, music and games. Since It is expected that mobile UGC, SNS, content sharing and download, mobile games will have great development potential in the near future.
China mobile development pattern has achieved two types, which are searching, games, IM and video services similar to traditional Internet in PC. Another pattern is based on cellphone software.
In future, cellphone operation platfroms will be the battle of Mobile Internet. (Alice He)
