China Mobile has launched the world’s first trial TD-LTE network at Shanghai World Expo, using Huawei’s E2E network solution.
Huawei says the download rate of the network “is ten times faster than existing 3G networks.”
The trial network will serve the 2010 Shanghai World Expo Park and some key pavilions.
“Construction of the network faced challenges due to the more than 70 million visitors expected throughout the Expo and the complex coverage area that includes grass lands, rivers, roads and high density buildings,” Huawei said.
It is offering a series of HD video services – videoconference, VOD and live broadcasting.
China Mobile plans to launch trial TD-LTE services in three cities in the second half of this year.
